Meet Your Academic Coach

Hi, I’m Michael Coler, the coach behind Seaside Academic Coaching. I work one-on-one with middle and high school students to build essential academic skills and excel academically. Based in North County San Diego, I provide the individualized attention students need to boost their grades, get organized, and prepare for college success.

Passion, Expertise, and a Personalized Approach

With over a decade of experience in executive function coaching and as a certified California educator, I blend proven techniques with educational technology to create a fast, effective, and personalized approach. My goal is to help every student build confidence, develop strong study habits, and achieve their academic goals in a supportive and efficient way.

Beyond the classroom, my time as a San Diego lifeguard taught me resilience, adaptability, and quick thinking—qualities I now instill in my students. Outside of coaching, I draw inspiration from my passions: surfing, snowboarding, marathon running, and international travel, all of which shape my understanding of goal-setting, adaptability, and confidence.

Building strong rapport is at the heart of my work. By combining professional expertise with life experiences, I create a trusting, supportive environment where students feel motivated and empowered to reach their potential.

Education

Bachelor’s in Social Studies and Education, and a Master’s in International Education with a focus on integrating educational technology.

Certifications

Trained in Orton-Gillingham and executive functioning strategies, with ISTE-aligned experience for diverse learning needs.
CA - Single Subject Teaching Credential 

NJ- Teaching Certificate of Eligibility with Advanced Standing
